Cultural adaptation in English Language Teaching (ELT) materials has become an essential component of modern pedagogy in multilingual and multicultural contexts. Teaching English effectively involves more than grammar and vocabulary; it requires the integration of cultural awareness, pragmatic competence, and intercultural sensitivity. This article explores the concept of cultural adaptation in ELT materials, focusing on the need to balance global and local perspectives to ensure relevance, inclusivity, and engagement. It examines how culture influences language acquisition, how textbooks reflect cultural norms and ideologies, and how teachers can adapt materials to meet the sociocultural realities of learners. The study also discusses strategies for developing culturally responsive materials that promote cross-cultural communication, critical thinking, and global citizenship among English learners.
