Abstract

Forensic toxicology, as a vital branch of forensic medicine, deals with the detection and interpretation of drugs, alcohol, and poisons in biological materials. It plays a pivotal role in criminal investigations, civil litigation, public health monitoring, and workplace safety. This article explores the historical development, methodologies, and applications of forensic toxicology, emphasizing its role in cases of homicide, suicide, accidental poisoning, and impaired driving. The article also discusses contemporary challenges such as novel psychoactive substances, laboratory standardization, and ethical considerations.
