This article provides an in-depth review of biological catalysts (enzymes), their role in metabolic reactions, structural properties, and age-related differences in enzymatic activity. Enzyme fluctuations in pathological conditions, their diagnostic value, and relevance in pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetric medicine are highlighted.
