Abstract

This piece looks at why literary and cultural works that show women from Western and Eastern backgrounds matter so much when people are learning foreign languages. Those images in the stories shape how learners see culture, think critically, and even communicate better, I suppose. It brings in a bunch of research from applied linguistics, gender studies, and comparative literature, all internationally known stuff. The main point is that engaging with female characters built from different cultural ways turns language learning into more than just picking up words, it becomes this encounter that changes how we view values, identities, social roles, things like that.

Being from a researcher in Uzbekistan, the study makes clear these texts bridge distances between cultures, help cut back stereotypes, and push for a more inclusive way to teach foreign languages, especially with globalization making everything connected. It feels a bit messy trying to tie all that together, but yeah.
