COMPARATIVE LINGUOCULTURAL AND COGNITIVE ANALYSIS OF ZOONYMIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

Abstract
This article explores the linguocultural and cognitive characteristics of zoonymic phraseological units in English and Uzbek languages. It aims to reveal how animal-based idioms embody cultural experience, national mentality, and conceptual thinking. The research applies descriptive, comparative, and cognitive-semantic methods to examine idioms with components such as horse, dog, and cat. The analysis shows that these units reflect both universal and culture-specific patterns of metaphorical interpretation. English idioms tend to express individualistic and pragmatic values, while Uzbek idioms highlight collectivist and ethical perspectives rooted in social life. The findings confirm that zoonymic phraseological units serve not only as linguistic elements but also as cultural codes preserving moral, emotional, and historical memory. The study contributes to comparative linguistics, translation theory, and cross-cultural communication by offering new insights into metaphorical cognition and cultural identity.
