Abstract

The development of cystic lesions in the maxillo-facial regions is influenced by a complex interplay of etiological factors, including infectious, traumatic, genetic, and environmental components. Understanding these contributing factors is essential for accurate diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and prevention of recurrence. This review explores recent research on the pathogenic mechanisms underlying the formation of maxillofacial cysts, emphasizing the roles of microbial infections, genetic predispositions, traumatic injuries, and chemical or environmental influences. An integrated approach to identifying these etiological aspects can improve clinical outcomes and guide targeted therapeutic interventions, ultimately contributing to better management of maxillo-facial cystic diseases.
